About this deal

ANC is top of your list: There's no active noise cancellation here, sadly, although the hear-through feature works beautifully to stay aware. We tested the earbuds in a number of different sound environments across a vast selection of musical genres. We listened to podcasts and albums in both quiet rooms and busy aeroplanes, to ensure we knew how they'd handle varying levels of noise too. We also wore them while walking and, often, working out, which meant we could speak to their comfort levels, ANC if available, and how secure they are in your ear. Earbuds are small and therefore their battery is smaller too. They heavily rely on their charging cases to ensure you won't run out of power while on the move, but that's not always convenient if you need to use them at the same time.

QCY T13 review: a new hope - Soundphile Review

You really want app support: They do amazing things without a companion app (on-ear volume control, EQ profiles, access to voice assistants – it's all here) but if you'd like one, you won't find it here. Of course, everyone can enjoy the feeling of no wires touching the skin, whether they’re exercising, walking, sitting, or lying down. But that’s basically all there is to it…well, that and the feeling of prestige you may get from using such new technology.Do you intend to workout with your earbuds? If so, you'll need buds that will stay put, so look out for interchangeable eartips and fins to hold them in place.

Wireless Headphones, Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth 5.3 with ENC

If your earbuds offer ANC or they simply have very good passive noise isolation, having a transparency mode (often referred to as ambient mode) is helpful. When activated, it uses the onboard microphones to pipe external sounds into your ear. Some earbuds let you fine-tune the amount of external sound, and some even offer the option of amplifying that sound as a form of hearing enhancement. Transparency modes are not only helpful for having a conversation without needing to remove the earbuds, but they also offer greater situational awareness when you’re near potential hazards like traffic or construction, airport announcements, or even just to hear a crying baby. USB-C The EarFun Air Pro 3 buds may not look special but they're a great pair of all-rounders. They bring you a good nine hours of battery life with an additional 36 from the case. There's also multipoint pairing on offer and some next-gen features that we couldn’t test yet for our review, but may soon make these buds even more special, including support for the highly-anticipatedBluetooth LE Audiotech. True wireless technology is still relatively new, and there’s lots of room to develop. These earbuds are definitely not the more cost-effective option, and it may take a couple of years for the price-to-performance ratio to reach a point where we’d feel comfortable recommending true wireless earbuds to everyone. The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1 Plus buds are some of our all-time favorites and they come at a pleasing budget price – especially considering how great they sound. Features-wise, you don't get ANC here, but we're willing to let that slide for the price. But you do get a great companion app, a reliable Bluetooth connection, support for aptX and AAC codecs and 9 hours of battery life with a further 4 full charges from the case, bringing you 45 hours in total. These cubist, cool, refreshingly different Audio-Technica ATH-SQ1TW earbuds are clear proof that Audio-Technica is going from strength to strength. That's 60 years of hi-fi heritage right there (albeit predominantly in analog audio, rather than these little things) and Audio-Technica has earned the right to confidently go its own way. First, make sure that your earbuds are turned off. If they're not, press and hold the power button until they turn off. Once they're off, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. This will put your earbuds into "pairing mode."
